In a sense, the interviews are just the beginning. Once they are completed, our editor spends many hours crafting the transcripts into an easy-to-read, engaging, and error-free narrative that retains the storyteller’s voice and character. In most cases, the storyteller speaks directly to the reader in the first person. The editor ensures that the manuscript breathes emotions and feeling and is rich in detail.
In many cases a project will require additional writing—for example, to incorporate some background research. Our writer is an expert at shaping this material so that the tone and style are consistent with the existing narrative.
Often a client will choose to write his or her own life story and then submit it to us for review or editing. Our editor then performs two roles.
First, he acts as a representative of the audience—a “first reader.” Then he make the story clear, understandable, and reader-friendly. He also presents the writer in the best possible light by ensuring that the manuscript is polished and error-free.
To fulfill these roles, we offer a full range of editorial services. These include: developmental, substantive, and stylistic editing; copyediting; and proofreading.
